Website launch & 1st blog post!
The title says it all really!
So..after what has been a looong time I've finally got the new site to a stage where I set it live on April 22nd 2022. It's been quite a journey learning something new.
It appears to be working in the way I want it to. I find that with a lot of websites I've come across especially in this new age of tech and apps that's so easily accessible to everyone, anyone can have a website now and can literally be set up in a couple of hours. Something that's frustrating for me personally is that there are so many websites that are like what I call jumble sales. Everything grouped together on page upon page of products that makes navigating extremely difficult and time consuming - most of the time resulting in me looking elsewhere.
Anyone that's in the know about website design and construction know's how costly it can be to have a bespoke site built from scratch to have the exact functionality you want in it.
My previous website was a bespoke built site and although it was going in the right direction it was going to cost a lot of money to get it to where it needed to be.
As a small business, this is something I couldn't justify at this time and so set about researching to build my own.
Using web building apps such as Shopify, Big commerce etc.. there is a degree of compromise (at least for the time being) in the functionality and the way the site navigation works.
I'm quite happy with the way it's working - search functions are finding products and the navigation menus are quite self explanatory with products grouped sensibly making things easier to find IMO.
Any feedback is appreciated - good and bad. Let me know what you think.
Can I improve on anything? Is there something else you'd like to see?
